about

Diamond Dirt is the Swiss duo that was born from the collaboration of Nicolas Baillie (Lemonick) and Valentin Bersier (Krizzli). Their encounter happens in 2012 as their common friends create the collective Kartel Klub. They don’t know each other yet but will soon discover that they have similar tastes in music and show a mutual re- spect for their productions. Very soon in their friendship, the idea of a collaboration arises and it becomes reality at the end of 2012 under the moniker Diamond Dirt. Nicolas Baillie aka Lemonick took up DJing and producing at the age of 14, after discovering electronic music. Based in Vevey and part of the Kartel Klub which he joined at the beginning of 2012, Lemonick released his first EP Swim / Sink on DWNTWN Records. It is supported by several artists such as Bambounou, Keith & Supabeatz, Bot (Crookers), Steve Starks and Dusty Corners. He also won the first edition of the Electrosanne & 20 Minutes DJ Contest against more than 150 other local DJ’s in September 2012, which shows he’s a safe bet. Valentin takes interest in music productionquite early and makes his first experiences in 2010 without publishing anything yet. After a short break, he takes his activity up again and produces some tacks in an electro style that he’ll quickly abandon to turn his interests towards Deep House, which he got to know thanks to his friends in the Kartel Klub. Shortly after that, he starts taking an interest in the London and Paris scenes and learns to love Bass Music and finally, more recently, Techno. Diamond Dirt appeared as an opportunity for both producers to keep away from their main comfort zone and try their hand at Techno. At the end of 2012, their common friend Loïc Dupasquier (Bitsculpter) launches Files Rec (an underground label who aim to push the best new producers of Techno and Bass music), after one year of planning, and asks Diamond Dirt for their EP as a first release. They naturally accept and the label’s roster quickly starts growing (Dusty Corners - FR, Kiazma - US) to the delight of the three friends, announcing a bright future for the next releases.
